The housing development will be constructed by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, for open-market sale.

Millions of pounds have been invested in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in recent years to make it a more attractive destination for tourists. The redundant school site has stood empty since it’s close sure in July 2011, the site is a prime location for a development of high-quality new housing, aimed at enhancing Newbiggins growing profile as an attractive place to live.

Councillor Dave Ledger, Arch Chair and Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council said: “The Windsor First School site is in a fabulous location offering spectacular views across the bay. Our aim is to offer a high-quality range of beachfront homes , adding a new dimension to Newbiggin’s housing market. I am sure the properties, once developed, will be much sought after”.

Peter McIntyre, Arch Group Managing Director, said “Part of Arch’s job is to give a lead in delivering housing differently from the wider market, in part to encourage innovation in that market. These thoroughly modern beach front properties will do that. I look forward to seeing what local people make of the plans – constructive feedback is always welcome”.
