First sight of new housing in Blyth

THE PUBLIC WILL GET A CHANCE TO SEE AND COMMENT ON PLANS FOR A NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENT OF 39 HOMES AT PLESSEY ROAD IN BLYTH.

The plans will go on display on Thursday 28th May, from 12-3pm and then later in the evening from 5- 7pm at Blyth Golf Club, Plessey Road, New Delaval, Blyth NE24 4DB. The development will consist of 39 homes for both sale and for private rent, with a mixture of property types including 2, 3, 4 bedroom houses and 2 bedroom bungalows and apartments.

The properties will provide family homes close to local amenities, schools and good transport connections. The housing development will be constructed by Arch, with the majority (27 houses) for open-market sale and 12 apartments to rent by Arch Homes. The houses are of high quality with quite a traditional look with the use of brick and render and offering practical interior layouts. All houses have private gardens and on-plot parking bays.

The Public consultation will take place at Blyth Golf Club, this will provide an opportunity to view plans and meet the design team. The design and planning work is being undertaken by Pod architects. It has been designed to sit well within the existing houses and has maximised the surrounding assets by positioning properties looking over the attractive Blyth golf course and Miners Welfare Park. The site enhances the existing environment by providing generous and high quality green spaces.

The development will also provide a layby which acts as a school drop off / visitor space and improves the highway between the development site and New Seaton Delaval Primary School. The site will also benefit from the governments Help to Buy offer, which could reduce deposits to as low as 5%. Part Exchange offers will also be available. (Both subject to criteria).

The Venture workshop site used to house workshop units that were demolished due to a poor state of repair. Arch were able to support 9 out of the 11 tenants by helping relocate businesses into Arch accommodation and providing funding assistance for their move. The site has proved to be good for residential development, close to local amenities, schools and good transport connections. Subject to consultation and planning, it is anticipated that work will commence this winter with a show home opening early next year. Enquiries are welcomed anytime by contacting Claire Scott claire.scott@arch-group.co.uk

Cllr Dave ledger, Arch Chair and Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “The Venture Workshop site is in a fantastic central location close to town amenities, schools and good transport links. Our aim is to offer a high-quality range of Blyth homes, adding a new dimension to the Northumberland housing market. I am sure the properties, once developed, will be much sought after. I look forward to seeing what local people make of the plans – constructive feedback is always welcome.”
