Northumberland Based Housebuilder is Granted Planning for Choppington Housing Scheme

FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE, A LONG AWAITED PLANNING APPLICATION HAS BEEN GRANTED ON BEHALF OF NORTHUMBERLAND HOUSEBUILDER, ASCENT HOMES, FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF 327 HOMES ON A SITE WHICH SITS BETWEEN CHOPPINGTON AND GUIDEPOST.

The planning application was originally submitted in November 2016 and has been considered twice at previous planning meetings but was given the final go ahead at the Strategic Planning Committee yesterday. The scheme will be built by Ascent’s in-house construction team.

This development will be Ascent’s largest to date and will be developed in phases. Phase 1 contains a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes including bungalows, terraced, townhouses and detached. This will be a continuation of Ascent’s standard house types which are currently being rolled out across both their Ellington and Cramlington schemes. A further phase is also planned to be developed which will comprise 27 affordable homes.

Speaking about this latest residential development to gain consent, Neil Turnbull, Ascent Homes Head of Land and Development said;

“We are delighted to be able to announce another fantastic housing development for Ascent Homes. These superb new properties in Choppington will really boost the housing offer in South East Northumberland and provide high quality homes that showcase the very best of local creativity and craftsmanship.

Developing this scheme represents an investment of £45.7m in construction which is great for the area and wider Northumberland.

ASCENT HOMES ARE PLANNING TO START ON SITE IN JUNE 2020.
