Surrounded by the beautiful Northumberland countryside and a stunning heritage coastline, Alnwick is steeped in history with its famous castle and gardens. Built in the 11th Century, the castle has been used in many blockbuster movies over the last 50 years, none more so important than being used as a stand-in for the interior and exterior of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. The adjacent gardens reopened in 2001 following a £43million investment are equally as striking. The natural surroundings are just as impressive, with over 20 miles of golden North Sea coastline in the region.

With a modern, vibrant town centre complemented by cobbled pavements and historic stone houses, Alnwick is a perfect synergy of history meeting modern life. In the town centre you will find modern amenities with a choice of national supermarkets, high street shops and independent boutiques. The town’s historic market place is still an active central hub holding regular markets and farmers markets each week.

For leisure pastimes, a modern leisure centre is found to the south of the town, whilst the wider region boasts football, cricket and rugby clubs, plus rambling, rock climbing, water sports, cycling and horse riding. Golfers can find thirteen golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the town. For more cultural pursuits, the town has a thriving playhouse and arts centre with regular performances and productions taking place.

Whilst there is plenty to keep you occupied in Alnwick, it also possesses great transport links. Situated just off the main A1 road, meaning big cities like Newcastle (35 miles) and Edinburgh (80 miles) are easily reached. The main East Coast railway link between Edinburgh (journey time approximately 1hr:10mins) and London (journey time approximately 3hr:45mins) runs via the nearby Alnmouth for Alnwick Station, with a weekday service of 15 trains per day north to Edinburgh and 13 trains per day south to London. For those wanting to travel further afield, Newcastle Airport is just 45 minutes by car.

Whatever you like, this unique property is perfectly located to match a wealth of tastes and preferences.
