A cut above the rest for Zahra
Hairdresser, Zahra Varis has put her foot on the first rung of the property ladder following her recent purchase at Ascent Homes’ Hemingway Court, Ponteland development. Fortunately for Zahra and her adorable Labrador, Ray, she was able to take full advantage of the developer’s 106 Agreement with Northumberland County Council and bought her stylish one-bed apartment at a generously discounted rate.
Ascent Homes signed up to the 106 Agreement, during the planning process, to ensure they provide housing to meet the needs of a broad range of buyers and particularly those buying their first homes.
Centrally located in the heart of Ponteland, Hemingway Court is attracting professionals and down-sizers alike. Zahra chose the development because it provides her with everything she needs including spacious living accommodation, outdoor space that requires no maintenance by her and a secure entry system, making the apartment the perfect to lock up and leave when she’s away on holiday, as well as a growing community of neighbours from all age ranges.
Guided every step of the way during the purchase process, Zahra spoke about her buying experience and why she chose Hemingway Court for her first home. She said:
“I’m originally from the area and know the village well but didn’t’ think I’d be able to afford to buy in Ponteland, especially something as stylish as my apartment. I love the fact that I have everything on my doorstep including some leisure facilities and great restaurants and bars. The supermarkets are close by and, working in Jesmond, my commute to work is easy. Also, there’s plenty of walks for Ray.
“I was delighted that I was able to buy under the discount scheme too. The sales team at Ascent Homes has been incredibly helpful talking me through the whole buying process, which can be daunting when you’ve never done it before and keeping me informed at each stage. I’ve not been in long, but I love it already. “
Welcoming Hemingway Court’s latest resident, Ascent Homes’ sales manager, Pauline Coltherd added:
“By incorporating discounted properties in the development, we have been able to play a part in giving first time buyers the opportunity to live somewhere they’d otherwise never be able to afford.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to support Zahra throughout the buying process and we will continue to be on hand for her as we are will all our buyers, with any after sales care she requires. As is to be expected when buying in an apartment block there is a management company on hand to deal with all the ongoing maintenance of both the internal and external communal areas. Buyers are often surprised by how reasonable the annual management fee is per property and this is another reason why Hemingway Court is such an attractive development.”
Anyone looking to buy under the discount scheme must meet the eligibility criteria set out by Northumberland County Council. Further information can be found on the Council’s website.
